Filipino fatality in Saudi floods identified

The authorities in Saudi Arabia have identified the Filipino who was among the 10 people who were killed in the floods that hit the Kingdom in January this year.

The Jeddah governorate's media director, Maj. Gen. Muhammad Al-Qarni, supplied details about the fatalities, according to a report published Monday on Arab News.

Citing the data, the Arab News report identified the Filipino as Vineelo Mat, 57, who was electrocuted).

However, no other information was provided about Mat.

The Arab News report said Al-Qarni also identified the other fatalities as:


  • Saad Abdullah Al-Daymami, Saudi, 18, drowned near the SAPTCO depot;

  • Muhammad Ahmad Haidar Ali, Yameni, 49, drowned, in Palestine Street;

  • Rajab Habeeb Karadishi, Turkish, 55, drowning, Palestine Street;

  • Muhammad Hasnain Fodah, Egyptian, 80, drowned in East Baghdadiyah;

  • Abdul Mohsen Awad Al-Mutairi, Saudi, 12, drowned at Prince Majed underpass;

  • Anwar Ali Idrees, Bangladeshi, 42, electrocuted, no location given;

  • Pramod Kumar, Nepali, age not known, electrocuted;

  • Ameerah Adam Ishaq, Chadian; 7, electrocuted; and

  • Fatima Adam Ishaq, Chadian, 4, electrocuted.
