Mourners demand justice for slain car dealer

Hours before they attended rites for his cremation Saturday, relatives and friends made a call for justice for carjack-slay victim Venson Evangelista.

Radio dzBB’s Rodil Vega reported mourners at the Loyola Memorial Chapel in Marikina City wore black T-shirts with the message “Justice for Venson Evangelista!"

Evangelista’s charred body was found in Nueva Ecija last week, a day after he disappeared on Jan. 13, during a road test of a Toyota Land Cruiser he was selling.

Police have arrested suspects Alfred Mendiola and Batibot Parulan, who linked brothers Roger and Raymond Dominguez to the crime.

The dzBB report said a funeral convoy left the memorial chapel at 8 a.m. en route to St. Peter’s Church in Quezon City, where Evangelista’s remains were to be cremated at 9:30 a.m.

After cremation, the remains were to be brought to the Immaculate Conception Church in Cubao for a Mass.

For their part, Quezon City and Marikina City police have secured the routes for Evangelista’s burial. — LBG, GMANews.TV
