MANILA, Philippines – Even if there is no direct threat, local intelligence authorities are on their toes closely monitoring the country’s security amid the discovery of suspicious packages bound for the United States.
In an interview with radio dzRB, Presidential deputy spokesperson Abigail Valte said there is no direct threat to the country “but our intelligence authorities are monitoring.”

Two suspicious packages were interrupted in Britain and Dubai over the weekend.
These prompted security officials to inform US President Barack Obama of a “potential terrorist threat.”
The issue also sparked a global terror threat, with several countries placing their security forces on high alert.
“Alam po ng intel authorities ang nangyari sa US…Wala naman po any indication that is in any way related to us, just in case lagi naman po mindful ang ating security authorities,” Valte said.
