2 killed, 2 wounded in Negros ambush

DUMAGUETE CITY -- Two were killed and two others were injured in an ambush in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.
The victims, who are members of the Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU), were ambushed while they were on their way to Barangay Trinidad in Guihulngan City on Saturday morning.
Lt. Col. Ramil Bitong of the 11th Infantry Battalion said their active auxiliaries (the CAFGU) were responding to a report they received regarding a civilian shot in Barangay Trinidad by suspected members of the New People’s Army- Special Partisan Unit (NPA-SPARU).
Staff Sergeant Rey Palomaria, Commander of the Candalanon Detachment, and CAFGU Active Auxiliary (CAA) Julebert Marata died on the spot.
CAAs Alexander Temperatura and Joseph Tejares were also wounded in the incident. They were brought to Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital.
The 11th Infantry Battalion has sent more troops to conduct hot pursuit operations.
