A councilor of a city in Laguna province died Monday night after being shot by motorcycle-riding men in an ambush late Monday afternoon.
Radio dzBB reported Biñan City Councilor Diego Casas died at a hospital where he was brought after the ambush. His driver, initially identified as Luisito Caitan, was wounded.
A separate report on dzXL radio said Casas died at about 6 p.m. at the Perpetual Help Hospital.
Initial investigation showed Casas and Caitan were heading home aboard a Toyota Revo Asian utility vehicle at about 5:10 p.m. when they were ambushed.
Police are still looking into the motive behind the ambush. - KBK, GMANews.TV
