69 distressed OFWs arrive from Lebanon

The first of several batches of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) allegedly maltreated by their employers in Lebanon arrived home before dawn Monday.

Radio dzBB's Denver Trinidad reported that an initial batch of at least 69 OFWs arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) aboard a Qatar Airways flight.

Another batch is due to arrive at the NAIA aboard another Qatar Airways flight in Monday afternoon, while a third batch is due to arrive early Tuesday.

Vice-President Jejomar Binay, who heads a government task force on OFW concerns, led the welcoming committee.

The distressed OFWs were brought to a facility of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration after their arrival, the report said. – VVP,GMANews.TV
