Pacman’s official US shop helps poor

LOS ANGELES – Underneath the Wild Card Gym where boxing icon Manny Pacquiao trains is a small shop.
Everything from the shirts, gloves, posters and stickers, has the Pacman’s likeness on it. The store is owned by the Filipino boxer.

“Every superstar has their own personal line. So Manny has started to cross over mainstream America. I guess it’s time to come up with his own personal line of items. And these ones are the official ones,” explained manager Winchell Campos.
The store is open only when Pacquiao trains as fans gather outside the gym to try and catch a glimpse of Team Pacquiao.
Campos jokes it’s almost like a gift shop for the Wild Card Gym. Shirts cost $20, while a pair of gloves cost $40.
“Gulat ako kasi maraming mga items dito na Pacquiao at talagang pang fans ito ni Pacquiao,” said Orwin Mendoza, a visitor from Singapore.

Pacquiao fan Sarah Fernando bought some merchandise for her friends. “Shirts from Manny, for my friends they’re all Americans, Filipinos, Mexicans I’m buying it for them,” said Fernando.
The store is also one of Pacquiao’s ways of giving back to the poor. It helps fund the Manny Pacquiao Foundation in the Philippines.
“It goes hand in hand with the foundation, some of the proceeds of this business he gives to charity,” said Campos.
The store is also looking to expand on items, including the MP 7 cologne. The store will operate on limited hours when Pacquiao returns to the Philippines after his fight.
Campos said merchandise and the chance to help the foundation will be available 24 hours a day when they launch the online store www.mpmerchandise.comBalitang America
