Report: 2 killed, 2 hurt as helper runs amok in GenSan

Two members of a family — one of them a Philippine-American — were killed while two others were wounded after their helper ran amok and went on a stabbing spree in their house in General Santos City before midnight Wednesday.

Radio dzXL reported Thursday morning the incident occurred at 11 p.m. Wednesday, when a drunk Samuel Tahil, 37, ran amuck in his employers' house in Bulaong Village.

Killed on the spot was Filipino-American Faith John Anderson, 10. Anderson's mother Josephine died shortly after being rushed to a nearby hospital.

Wounded were the victims' neighbor, SPO4 Amuran Tanug and his son, who was not immediately named.

The dzXL report said one April Rose Bulanon fled from the house and asked for help from Tanug. The report did not immediately say how Bulanon was related to the victims.

When Tanug approached the victims' house, Tahil stabbed the policeman in the leg, and stabbed Tanug's son in the arm.

But other neighbors caught up with Tahil and turned him over to police.

The dzXL report quoted Tahil as saying that he ran amuck because the Andersons would always berate him. He said he regretted his actions. — RSJ, GMANews.TV
