AGUSAN DEL SUR, Philippines – The decomposing body of a 12-year-old girl has been discovered in a grassy portion of a garbage area in Esperanza.
Manilyn Lacbayo’s face was almost unrecognizable because her head was struck with a rock. Police said the girl was also raped and stabbed with a stick.
Lacbayo’s father, Jimmy, said he was shocked when his sibling asked for him to identity the naked body of his daughter.
Police investigation revealed that the girl was killed on December 5. Her body was found 2 days later near a garbage dump.
A suspect, 19-year-old Ronnie Bulalahos, has been arrested. He admitted killing the girl but denied that he raped her.
He claimed that he and the victim had a relationship.
In a translation, Bulalahos said, “Hindi ko siya ginahasa, Pinag-usapan namin iyon. Matapos iyon, sumigaw siya ng tulong kaya nagawa ko ang krimen.”
