Perez, a senior purser of Cathay Pacific, was found unconscious at the arrival hall of the Hong Kong International Airport on Thursday after a 12-hour flight from Italy to Hong Kong.

In a text message to GMANews.TV, DFA spokesperson Ed Malaya said "The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong is assisting the family of Ms. Rosemarie Perez."

"Ms. Perez died of a heart attack based on the report received from the hospital. The body was taken to the mortuary," Malaya said.

"The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong is closely coordinating with the family and Cathay Pacific officials in facilitating the repatriation of the remains of Ms. Perez to the Philippines," he added.
