9 workers killed after falling off Makati building

MANILA, Philippines (1st UPDATE) – At least 9 construction workers were confirmed killed after falling off a building in Makati City Thursday, a radio dzMM report said.
Makati Mayor Jojo Binay said the accident occurred at the Eton Tower located at the corner of Paseo de Roxas and Gallardo streets in Makati City.
A separate report from Makati police chief Senior Superintendent Froilan Bonifacio said the workers fell off the 32th floor of the building after the platform they were using gave way. "What we received is they were working at the 32nd floor and they fell to the 7th floor," he told radio dzMM.
Eton Properties gave the following statement after the accident.
"The management of Eton Properties is trying to determine the facts and exact cause of the accident. We will be issuing an official statement later. Our immediate concern is to bring the workers to the nearest hospital so they can be given emergency medical attention.
"So far, sketchy reports indicate  that 11 workers were involved in the accident when the 'suspended gandola', a basketlike platform used by workers for installing glass windows, fell down from the 20th floor.
"We are getting all the details which we will share to the media later."   With reports from Dexter Ganibe and Noel Alamar, radio dzMM
