‘Boom Boom’ stops Barrera

MANILA, Philippines – Filipino featherweight Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista knocked out his Mexican nemesis Alejandro Barrera in their Pinoy Pride 3: The Rematch fight in Cebu on Saturday.
The 24-year old Boholano proved that his earlier victory over Barrera was no fluke by halting the Mexican at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu.
This was the second time Bautista defeated the Mexican.
The two first fought in a controversial encounter in the “Philippines vs the World” event last August 2010. The Filipino won by technical knockout after officials stopped the match due to a cut suffered by Barrera in the 4th round.
With the Jan. 29 win, Bautista improved his record to 30-2 (with 23 knockouts). Barrera on the other hand, fell to his 5th loss against 21 wins.
Pinoy Pride 3 was jointly presented by Antonio L. Aldeguer (ALA) Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports.
ABS-CBN Channel 2 will air the fight on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. There will also be a replay on Studio 23 at 9:30 p.m
