BELLFLOWER, California – A Filipino-American boy is racing straight to the top in record speed on a BMX bike in California.
Fil-Am Patrick Coo is not the typical energetic 8-year-old boy.
Coo has speed like no other children his age.
Coo became the fastest BMX racer in California, winning back-to-back state championships in 2009 and 2010 in his age group.
Last month, Coo placed first at the Redline Cup where bikers from all over the West Coast raced to the finish line.
"It's fun," said Coo.
Coo began competitive BMX racing at age 6. His father, Benjamin, became his first coach.
Although training may be hard, Coo said it's what makes him a champ.
He added that racing gives him a different high.
"It felt like you're floating on air," said Coo. Balitang America
