Granger helps Pacers beat Cavs 100-89
INDIANAPOLIS(AP) Danny Granger and the Indiana Pacers picked up right where they left off from South Beach.
Granger scored 24 points and the Pacers beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 100-89 on Tuesday night, building on their impressive victory over LeBron James and Miami.
Granger got off to a slow start but scored 10 points in the second quarter as Indiana expanded an eight-point lead into a 62-37 margin at halftime.
"This had to be a big win for us because we came off of a good road game," Granger said. "And it means nothing if you come back and lose."
Granger made only 6 of 21 shots in Indiana's 93-77 victory over the Heat on Monday. But Granger also had 11 rebounds and six assists, and Brandon Rush added 20 points in the impressive road win.
Back at home against James' former team, it was more of the same.
"We definitely carried it over from last night," said Rush, who scored 16 against the Cavaliers. "It was definitely big. It was definitely important for us not to let that win get over our heads. We didn't want to lay an egg."
Ramon Sessions had 15 points, six rebounds and five assists for Cleveland (5-8), which lost its third consecutive game.
Lopez scores 32 as Nets break 3-game losing streak
NEWARK, N.J.(AP) Brook Lopez scored a season-high 32 points and the New Jersey Nets snapped a three-game losing streak with a 107-101 overtime victory over the slumping Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night.
Devin Harris added 23 of his 27 points in the second half, Kris Humphries had 12 points and 14 rebounds, and Anthony Morrow had five of his 13 points in overtime in New Jersey's first home game in 10 days.
Jamal Crawford had 21 points, and Josh Smith added 20 for the Hawks, who have lost three straight and seven of nine after a 6-0 start. Joe Johnson scored 16 points and Al Horford had 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Lopez, Harris and Morrow combined to score the Nets' 14 points in overtime. Harris also took a charge on a drive by Smith when the Hawks trailed by four points with 22.3 seconds to go.
Lopez gave the Nets a 95-93 lead with a basket inside on the opening possession of overtime, and Harris drove the lane for a basket after Johnson missed in close.
Wizards top 76ers 116-114 in OT after Holiday gift
WASHINGTON(AP) John Wall was some 40 feet from the basket when he was fouled by Jrue Holiday with time running out and the Washington Wizards trailing by three.
The No. 1 overall pick, playing in just his ninth NBA game and returning after missing four games with a sprained left foot, knew exactly what to do. He tossed the ball toward the basket without any hesitation, making it a shooting foul that would give him three free throws.
He then sank all three with 3.5 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime, and the Wizards went on to get their second crazy victory over the Philadelphia 76ers in less than a month, winning 116-114 Tuesday night.
Knicks beat Bobcats for fourth straight win
NEW YORK(AP) Last time they left Madison Square Garden, the New York Knicks were a team of bad moods and worse basketball, seemingly headed on the road to nowhere.
This time, they left with a chance to get back to .500 - unfamiliar territory for a team coming off nine straight losing seasons.
Toney Douglas scored 22 points, and the Knicks won their fourth straight game, beating the Charlotte Bobcats 110-107 on Tuesday night in the opener of a home-and-home series.
Amare Stoudemire added 17 while battling foul trouble for the Knicks, who won the final three games on their road trip and kept rolling right through most of this one. They blew nearly all of a 16-point lead before holding on for their longest winning streak since taking four straight last Dec. 4-11.
Raymond Felton made the clinching free throws against his former team as New York (7-8) put six players in double figures. The Knicks can get back to .500 with a victory at Charlotte on Wednesday.
"It's great, it lets you know we're getting our confidence, especially down the stretch. So we've just got to continue to keep that confidence high," said Stoudemire, in good spirits after seeming despondent last time he spoke in front of his locker, when a loss to Houston on Nov. 14 was the fifth in a streak of six straight losses.
