Manama: Qatar's Eid holidays for schools and public sector employees will stretch to 10 days, a local daily has said.
According to Al Arab, the holidays will start on November 11 and end on November 21.
Qatari authorities traditionally grant a three-day holiday on Eid Al Adha, expected to be on November 16, and one day before it to mark the pilgrims' gathering around Mount Arafat near Makkah, an important ritual of the annual Haj pilgrimage.
"The holidays were initially scheduled to start on November 15, but since there is only one working day between the weekend and the Eid holidays, the authorities will be giving Sunday off as well," the paper reported yesterday, quoting well-informed sources it did not name.
The sources added that the banking sector will be given only four days off, depending on the start of Eid Al Adha.
