Kidnapping of Fil-Chinese trader in Cotabato City caught on CCTV

MANILA, Philippines – A Filipino-Chinese businessman in Cotabato City was abducted in front of a hotel after playing casino on Saturday night.
The abduction of businessman Adin Yu, owner of Yu Kian Guan Hardware, was caught on closed-circuit television camera of the Estosan Garden Hotel. The kidnapping occurred at 8:57 p.m.
Based on the video shown by the hotel’s chief security guard, Crisanto Sarno, Yu and his wife Cathy entered Estosan Garden Hotel around 8 p.m.
After playing casino, 2 unidentified men who were waiting in front of the hotel approached them, dragged Yu and forced him inside a get-away vehicle.
A brief exchange of gun fire between the abductors and the responding security guards of the hotel ensued, but the kidnappers were able to escape along with the businessman.
No one was hurt in the incident. Some of the cars parked in front of the hotel, however, were hit by bullets.
After 30 minutes, authorities recovered the abandoned get-away vehicle on Andres Alonzo Street in Barangay Rosary Heights 11. The red Toyota Corolla has a plate number of NXY 153.
A security guard, who does not want to be identified, told ABS-CBN News that the Yus are regular casino players at the hotel. When the abduction occurred, they have no bodyguards or security escorts with them.
Police and military are now conducting hot pursuit operations. Checkpoints have been set up in different parts of Cotabato City.
