P1-M worth of marijuana seized, destroyed in Benguet

BENGUET – Two separate police operations here had resulted in the seizure and destruction of over a million pesos worth of marijuana plants and seedling.

On Tuesday, six kilos of marijuana with an estimated street value of P330,000 were seized at a checkpoint at Lomon Junction in Kapangan town.

The three marijuana bricks were reportedly placed in a weave bag found inside a Dangwa bus bound for Baguio City. The bus’ conductor said the owner of the bag disembarked upon sensing the presence of a police officer among the passengers.

The operation was made possible by a tip from a concerned citizen, police said.

The day before, Kapangan police operatives with anti-illegal drug agents destroyed 3,468 fully grown marijuana plants and 2,700 seedlings in Sitio Pengew in Sagubo village, also in Kapangan.

Authorities pegged the value of the destroyed marijuana plants and seedlings at P801,600
Police said the marijuana plants were found in six different sites totaling 1,076 square meters. - Maria Elena Gonzalez/KBK, GMANews.TV
