Deadline for nurses, caregivers for Japan extended

MANILA, Philippines – Interested individuals who want to work in Japan as nurses or caregivers have until January 14 to submit their applications to the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).
This after POEA decided to extend the deadline for the submission of applications from January 6 to January 14.
“Para magkaroon pa ng pagkakataon ang ibang gusto pang mag-apply dito sa programang ito," said Director Nimfa De Guzman of the POEA’s Welfare and Employment Office.
Liberty Teleg and Mary Grace Calma were among the many nurses and caregivers who lined up at the POEA head office to submit their requirements.
“Para maiba naman kasi mas malaki daw ang sahod doon saka mas open country kasi ang Japan,” said Teleg, who has been working as a nurse for 5 years and had recently completed her work contract in Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, Calma said she has to continue working to help pay for her siblings education. In 2009, Calma finished her contract in Trinidad and Tobago.
Based on the Economic Partnership Agreement between the Philippines and Japan, 187 nurses and caregivers are needed to complete the third batch of nurses and caregivers to be deployed by the government to Japan in May.
The POEA said the opportunity is open to male and female nurses and caregivers between 20 to 35 years old.
Applicants must possess the following qualifications:
NURSES
Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Nursing;
With Board License;
With at least three (3) years hospital experience; and,
Must be physically and psychologically fit

CAREGIVERS

A graduate from any four (4) year course and certified as a caregiver by TESDA;
or a Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Nursing; and,
Must be physically and psychologically fit
Interested applicants must register online at the POEA website (www.poea.gov.ph) and personally submit the requirements to the Manpower Registry Division, Ground Floor, POEA Building, EDSA corner Ortigas Avenue, Mandaluyong City.
Qualified applicants from the Visayas and Mindanao area shall personally submit their documents to the following addresses or register online at www.poea.gov.ph orwww.eregister.poea.gov.ph :
